Variety is what keeps Susan energized.  After receiving an MBA from Indiana University, she indulged her love of variety by taking on creative roles in consumer packaged goods companies, as well as in her personal life.

Susan started her marketing career as an intern with General Electric, then continued to hone her skills at companies such as Quaker Oats, Fruit of the Loom, and Beecham Products (now GlaxoSmithKline).  She found her calling in new product and business development and created new products and businesses at Hasbro Toys, Sunbeam Corporation, and Hardware.com.  She’s even been the President of her own children’s party planning and promotion business.  She has also enjoyed volunteering for not-for-profit organizations like Habitat for Humanity and the Big Sister program.

She brings her diverse business perspective and enthusiasm to Ideas To Go, where she helps her clients capitalize on their opportunities through more effective problem-solving.  She is a regular trainer at the Creative Problem Solving Institute and a frequent lecturer in creativity and innovation, having spoken at conferences and seminars in the U.S., South Africa, South Korea, Italy, Sweden, the U.K., China, and Greece.

How Your Problem-Solving Style Affects Your Work

Learn your problem-solving style and the specific strengths that your style offers to a group.  This is an interactive workshop about understanding, valuing and leveraging our differences so that our work is more productive, enjoyable, and efficient.

The Kirton Adaptor Innovator (KAI) instrument is a self-assessment tool that will help you understand your own and others’ problem-solving and creativity style.  KAI theory has been used by major corporations throughout the world in addressing such critical issues as restructuring, team work within diverse organizations, resistance to change, and conflict between individuals and groups.

You’ll discover your preferences and strengths in the areas of: 1) idea generation, 2) efficiency, and 3) rule and group norms.  You’ll gain insight into how your creativity and problem-solving style impacts your personal and work relationships.  And you’ll also gain an appreciation of the many different styles and how they affect team dynamics, communication, and work flow.

Participants in this workshop will receive the assessment to fill out, and will receive their individual results after the session.

After the workshop, you will:

  • Understand your own and others’ problem-solving and creativity style.
  • More  effectively offer your problem-solving strengths to a group
  • More effectively communicate with team members.
  • Consistently leverage the individual strengths of your team members.
